Project Vision
-
Design a cohesive interface for newcomers
-
Clearly market, and explain what the app is all about
-
Have minimalist UI so as not to distract from the products
What Is GameD?
GameD is a platform that allows Gamers to stylize and their equipment, connect with artists, and bring a new kind of personalization to the gaming experience.
The platform also benefits artists by giving them a platform to sell their work and get discovered

Kickoff
In this project I took a goal directed design approach to define the key details of assessment of the user base. Qualitative research methods proved the most useful, consisting of competitor research, and Persona construction. I began by asking the key questions;
What is the product, and who is it for?
What challenges could be faced moving forward?
What do the primary users need most?
What lititure should I consider, and review?
Who is the biggest competitor?
What users are most important to the business?
After the first steps in research, I began to construct User Journey's, User Flows, and storyboards for the app development. Recognizing the conflicts between what the users need, vs what my own personal bias was, was challenging to define, but ultimately crucial to the project.

The Users
Primary
Name: Jolie
Age: 24
Occupation: Part-Time Employment
Secondary
Name: Tyler
Age: 42
Occupation: Electrician
Supplementary
Name: Darol
Age: 40
Occupation: Docter
Jolie plays on both consoles, and PC, she loves adding new games to her collection, and keeping a gaming space for her playing time. This space includes a variety of games, devices electronics, and specially personalized items.
Tyler has played games his entire life. Now that he’s married with children, he has less time to spend on games, but he would like to share his passion with his family, and make the gaming experience even better by personalizing a gaming space for his kids.
Darol does not play games at all, however, his son and daughter do and he wants to encourage their hobby and get items for them based on their favorite games.
Competitive Analysis
I looked at several potential competing companies, though there weren't a large amount of direct competitors for GameD, there was still potential infringement for revenue, and business. GameD has the opportunity to capitalize on the market gap for personalized gaming equipment.
While there were several similarities between competitors, I was able to determine key differences, gaps that GameD would be able to fill. These were:

-
Small assortment of gaming equipment to personalize
-
Not a large amount of options regarding images
-
Artist work was not advertised well.
Creating the Journey
I created a basic Flowchart for the GameD app to show the user's journey throughout key features the app offers. This game me the opportunity to outline, and organize what the users really need throughout their experience.

Wireflow/Wireframes
After sketching out some wire-frames, and thinking though the main flows, I reviewed what was necessary, and unnecessary, and what areas needed improvement. I poured a large amount of time in this step of the design process in order to ensure the user experience was optimized.

Iteration
After creating a a low-fi prototype, I prepared a Usability study to test the prototype on a select group of users. With this discoveries, I was able to move on to the next step; creating a high-fi prototype.
Users wanted more options
Users had difficulty navigating
Users needed a better journey

Takeaways
As an artist, and someone who plays games, I find the idea of GameD to be both inspiring, and near to my own experiences. I wanted to highlight the importance of platforms that actually help artists, (instead of the other way around), and a platform that will highlight a connection between gamers and their favorite games, movies, characters, and most importantly create a community between artists and gamers. Through this project I learned that it is not enough to focus on business goals, the real focus should be connection.
